#211 Doodle Bot

Tried out a doodle program on my iPhone, this is the result. Too little of a screen to get much detail going but I did like the 'stamp' feature to give my robot a skull.
Finished this on 12/31/10 and post dating this as I did not want to get out of my warm quilt to sit at the computer and post this last night.

#210 I get by with office supplies!

Robot made with some office supplies - not that anyone is going to be needing a 3 and 1/2 inch floppy any time soon!

#209 Sticking its neck out bot

This bot is known to stick its neck out to help any automatons it can.

Made from a phone connector, power outlet, ribbon cable and plastic legs. It reminded me of Ithorians from the Star Wars universe (Hammerheads):

#208 Cable Strippin' Bot

Had plans for a different robot today but time constraints lead me to this cable stripping robot.

RG-58 cable stripper and a cable splitter.

#207 Box Bot

This probably would have been more appropriate on Boxing Day but here it is - Box Bot.

#206 More Giftbots!

Today was Christmas part 2, day trip to the in-laws at the coast. I received the gift of Robots! A wind-up dancing guy and a 'Hex Bot' robo-ant that rolls along and reverses direction when the antennae or tail hit something - it was a huge hit with the cat.

#205 Gift of a Robot

Had to get at least one robot related gift today, this unlined notebook/sketch book.
I think The Daily Robot received one like this not too long ago as well.

#204 Robot Pants

I just want to dance in my robot skin pants!

Robot sleep pants sewn as a gift for my wife (with her help cutting them out and guidance on using her serger and sewing machine since I only sew maybe once a year).

#203 Scene of the Xmas Crime

Judging by the candy cane outline there's been a robotocide in Santa Land. Another automaton cut down in its prime of making toys.

#201 Sugar Cookie Bot

Cooked up another robot, a sugar cookie bot. I tried to modify a cookie cutter, that result is to the left, looks more like a top hat wearing guy. So I hand formed a robot and dabbed a little icing on it before realizing the details get lost in icing.

Now that it is posted, evidence will be consumed.

#199 Crusty PieBot

Baking a pie for a mini feast tonight (our between Thanksgiving and Christmas feast, a little later since I was traveling). Made a robot out of extra pie crust, had to brown it up a bit before adding to the pie, and also it let the pie firm a bit so ti wouldn't sink
Pre-baking

On the pie after it came out of the oven. Bon Appetit!

#197 Rudolph the 50ohm Reindeer

Then one foggy Christmas eve, Santa came to say - Rudolph with your ohms so high, won't you terminate my BNC tonight....

#196 Computer 'Key' Bot

Remember keys for your computer? I have a bunch of them, plus keys to other old devices. Gotta keep that case secure!

#195 MyrrhBot

Here comes the third Magi Bot - MyrrhBot is happy to hover over and provide the finest of perfumes and oils.

#194 Frank, the Incense Bot

Catch up, this would be for Tuesday the 14th.

Here comes Magi bot #2, Frank, the Incense Bot.
Disappointed that the pic didn't catch the smoke trails but that is burning incense in the 'hands'

#193 Gold Bot

Time to get caught up now that I am home. This would be for Monday the 13th.
Here comes the first of the three wise bots, the bot of gold.

#192 Bows and Ribbons

Tis the season for the trappings of Christmas. Assemblage of bows and a ribbon roll head.

#191 Cat Toy Bot (and back in action)

So I have been able to make some time again for bots, so here is the 'yesterday' bot that puts me back on track for a true 365.
Cat toys.

And the cat - my mom's 3 legged, polydactyl 14 year old kitty Hoppy.

Mention from Make Something 365

365: A Daily Creativity Journal is a new book/creativity journal from Noah Scalin, aka the SkullMaster from Skull-A-Day who is the inspiration for my project. Got a nice mention on his 365 site, I highly encourage you to check out his new book - it is on my wish list for Christmas!

I really hate that I broke my streak but as the saying goes - it is what it is, if things mellow a bit here I may pick it back up before Friday and do some catch up.

Bots on hold until 12/17/2010

Due to being at my mom's house and events I have to suspend making a bot until I am back at my regular residence. I feel like I'm failing in my 365 but I know it is what you make it. If the situation changes I will post.

#190 Bellhop Bot

Last day in Oklahoma City on this trip, off to my mom's house in Florida tomorrow and maybe a bot that isn't a sketch.

Bellhop Bot helps take the luggage down for me.

#189 5 minute sketch bot

Today I have another long day ahead so I cranked out this sketch then penned it in roughly. I will probably visit this one again for a coloring job. Shape inspired by the desk lamp in my hotel room.

#188 Oatmeal Cookie Bot

Mmmmm, cookie. Oatmeal cookie with pieces removed to make a robot-like shape. All evidence has now been removed.

#187 Lil' Miss Cutie Bot

So the hotel I am staying at had one of those toddlers and tiaras pageants going on this weekend. Very high on the creepy factor IMO, I just don't understand tarting up your daughter ala Jon Benet, not to mention that serious gender binary bias.
A quick doodle this morning with a more acceptable tiny tiara contestant, Lil' Miss Cutie Bot, programmed for cuteness and less of a creepiness factor provided you aren't creeped out by little robots. 2"x1" pencil sketch.

#186 Red Devil Bot

Another on the road quickie. Red foil wrapper from a candy cane Almond Roca.

Sunday, December 5, 2010

#185 Via Bot

So sitting in a hotel room I really don't want to only draw robots, thus I have to dig in to my snacks/supplies. Starbucks Christmas Blend Via packets.

#183 Bedbot

Sleep tight, don't let the Bedbots bite! This bedbot will tuck you in and play soothing music or white noise.

I need a bedbot after getting about 8 hours sleep total the last 3 days. Traveling blues. And with this one I am over the halfway mark!

Thursday, December 2, 2010

#182 Tiebot

Now if only these would tie themselves, but the risk there is a rouge tiebot would keep on keepin' on and well, oxygen is already limited with one of these on.

#181 Robot Haiku

I have been on the go since 3:30AM and am exhausted, I have considered suspending my project the next few weeks while I am traveling but I want to stay in the spirit of the project and the example the Skullmaster set. So for now I soldier on with a haiku.

Unfeeling eye stares
Wonder what the intent is
Good robot or bad?

Not great but it is my robo-contribution of the day.

#180 Badge Clippings

Clipped out parts of security badges.

I have work travel coming up the next couple weeks so I will be making some sort of robot each day but may not be able to post them right away. Prepare for more drawings than anything else most likely.

#179 Ornament Bots

Time for an ornament exchange that I participate in. Only 3 people participating in this one (two of which live in the same house - spouse and myself) so I made two ornaments, one for them and one for us.

Ram chip, googly eyes, felt, pipe stem

#178 White Board Doodle

Guest drawing today from my wife, we update our monthly calendar white board with some sort of drawing, this month she made a Christmasy robot using magnets for its eyes.

#177 Fridge Magnet Bot

Going through our giant bag of fridge magnets I figured it would be something good to make an assembled robot out of.

#176 Satellite Coffee Robot

The robot for today presented itself while at my in-laws for Thanksgiving. My brother in-law has this great shirt for Satellite Coffee in Tacoma, WA.

#175 Cyborg Turkey

10 GOBBLE
20 GOTO 10

Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USA. The Cyborg Turkey sends you greetings.

Plastic thing from an power cord, pipe stem, googly eyes, felt and a fuzzy pom-pom with foil. A nod to the Twitter handle of the Robot Chicken crew aka CyborgTurkey.

#174 Sweet (potato) Robot

Another sweet robot, peelings from sweet potatoes, cranking up the prep for tomorrows feast. Making my Yamtastic, sweet potatoes, brown sugar, butter, spices and pecans.

#173 Gesundheit!

Now that it is getting colder the nose starts running more and as an indication that I have robots on the brain I seem to sneeze out robots now:

A little clearer with the colors inverted.

#172 N-Gauge Robot

One of the things I brought home after my dad passed away was his N Gauge train set, which has been sitting in a box since probably 1981 or so. The trains still work but I need new track, so for now the track works as an improvised robot.

Sunday, November 21, 2010

#171 Mii Bot

Playing around with Wii Party I thought I'd try and make a Wii avatar that was a robot.
Problem is there isn't a good skin color that looks appropriately robotish.

But in one of the minigames he looks at least 'spacey'.

#170 Ceramic Bobber

While shopping at Target this morning I browsed the kid crafts and saw a ceramic frog nodder that looked like it might make a good robot, but behind it on the peg was a robot! Instead of using their paints I used my ceramic paints to do my own.
